Community leaders, city leaders, and family members gathered Sunday 8-25-24 to remember the lives lost in a hate filled racist attack on the three black people in Grand Park area before taking his own life.

The 904WARD organization conducted a ceremonial soil collection of soil from the Dollar General location. Family members along with members of the community deposited the soil in containers with the victims’ names on them while saying their names.

Council member Ju’Coby Pittman said they’ll have a memorial ceremony annually for the victims as long as she is on the city council.
